Biography

Juan Carlos Moreno, Composer, Producer and Arranger, was born on August, the 31st, of 1986 in the city of Eagle Pass, Texas. He was raised in México, being a son of Mexican parents, and lived in Coahuila and Nuevo León, where he began his music studies in guitar at the age of 13, and México City finally, where he became part of the school choir on secondary school and a guitar player of the Jazz band on High school.

 

In México City, he formally began his music studies in the Academia de Música Fermatta, on the Composition Major. He received music lessons from several Mexican renowned musicians like Luis Zepeda, Leopoldo Gutiérrez, Jorge Arellano (former guitarist of Alejandra Guzmán) and Alberto Tenorio, and took guitar lessons from Juan José López (guitar player in the Big Band México) and Mauricio "Zheythan" González (former member and co-founder of War Kabinett), and had the oportunity of forming part of Master Classes with diverse world-class musicians, like Steve Lukather (Toto), Mike Stern, Michael Thompson and Stanley Jordan. He won the work-study scholarship "Intercambio" on his second semester of studies after achieving one of the top GPA's in his class, and succeeded in the auditions to enter and transfer to the Berklee College of Music two years afterwards.

 

In 2009, he moved to Boston Massachusetts to continue his studies on the major of Contemporary Writing and Production after transferring to the Berklee College of Music, where he began attending in January 2010. There he had the privilege of taking music lessons with world-class musicians, composers, producers and arrangers like Bill Elliott, Joe Carrier, Kurt Biederwolf, Dan Moretti and Jeff Perry, and received guitar lessons from Scotty Johnson. He formed part of the Dean List in the Fall semester of 2010, and successfully graduated receiving the Bachelor of Music on Contemporary Writing and Production in May of 2013.

- Master Class with world-class musicians like John Petrucci and Guthrie Govan (Boston, MA, 2010 - 2013).

 

- Winner of the Work-Study scholarship "Intercambio" in Academia de Música Fermatta (Spring, 2007, México City).

- Dean's List in the Berklee College of Music (Fall, 2010).
